I was one of nine children born to hard-working parents. I graduated law school in Cleveland. My first opportunity to practice law came as an assistant county prosecutor. With the help of the police department, I prosecuted criminals, sending them to jail and prison. It was important work. My next opportunity as a lawyer came as a labor lawyer. I’ve represented teachers’ unions and the United Auto Workers, handling strikes and matters pending before the National Labor Relations Board. Once in Willoughby, I got teargassed while on a picket line. After practicing criminal law and labor law, I decided I liked handling difficult and hard cases. Those are the challenging parts of the practice of law. I ended up doing injury law.
