So, the first thing we do is pull the police report and we make sure that there are witness statements. We also request any photographs that the police may have taken at the scene. We always want to get photographs that clients took personally, too, because sometimes they get even better photographs than we obtain from the police department. So, we help clients get that information in. Then, sometimes we have to send our investigators out to check for video in the area. So our investigators go to local businesses and stores and see if there was any video of the crash. Clients sometimes have dash cams in their cars now, too, so preserving that is very important. Any kind of witness statement that we need, we can send our investigators out and meet with those witnesses and get that information to help build the case. Then, I always tell my clients too to take a lot of pictures. If you have scars, bruises, or anything like that, make sure you’re documenting how things change over time, too, as far as the healing process.
